All I think I know I read from what I think are reputable sources. Here's one which might shed some light on things:

I really don't think Clinton was a backer of this largely republican effort. He was getting along so badly with them at the time he may have been tempted to veto, but since this was an entire federal budget bill, it would have meant throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Note that Senator Gramm sneaked a cute little amendment into the bill that gave Enron the legal means to do that voodoo they did.

Wasn't his wife on the board of directors?

If so, it's amazing that the fed didn't come after him in the investigation. What a scumbag - along with his wife(scumbagette?).
