regarding tax cuts for the rich, the Bush tax plan created this huge "179 deduction" for small business to buy things to use for business, and they included 6000lb vehicles for the first time, and raised the limit from 18K to 250K. So basically if you are a consultant you can buy an SUV and it comes off of your *receipts* not your income.

The problem is if they repeal the bush tax cuts now, this SUV deduction will go with it and that will hurt the autos. So Obama won't do it. He will leave the bush tax cuts in there for another year, even though they are inherently unfair. But the autos have way too many of these onhand and need to sell them.
