Splenda or Agave as a substitute sweetener without detrimental effects as long as I use them in moderation?

Load up on em. Agave is very hard to use. Splenda is very easy. Cheapest way to buy it is in 9 1/2 oz packages. Sounds like a little, but they are large, because splenda is so light it almost floats away. Wal Mart carries the package. Use it just like sugar.

Don't be scared off by someone telling you that it has a higher glycemic index than sugar. A teaspoon of sugar has a load of 4.7. A teaspoon of Splenda a .05 one. They add a little carb to make it granular. Glycemic load is all that counts. The index is just a math factor used to calculate the load by multipling it times the grams involved divided by 100.

I use a heaping tablespoon in my morning oatmeal, and one in my smoothies. My gallon of sweet tea takes three.

Try Stevia. It's natural and no calories.
