I like the "our boat is sinking very fast as we debase our USDs, but as I look around all the other boats are sinking at about the same pace" (and I include China, altho the Chinese boat may be sinking a little more slowly than Europe and the rest of Asia). The problem I have with gold is it is nice to bribe border guards, but I have a couple of nice diamonds I think will do as well. By the time we get to the point where world currencies are worthless, the economic and political situation may be such that gold may not be the barter of choice (food, ammo, water, clothing, fuel, etc. being other possibilities). The thing that rankles me the most is all the attention and $$ bailing out Wall Street, and the unbridled greed of the investment banks. What the public is fed is letting them go under would be "too horrible to contemplate". Too horrible for whom?
