Hi M,

I doubt solar as a replacement and wind for that matter in current scheme of things.. However improvements happen. That's just the way it goes. Conservation, lifestyle changes, attitudes are all part of the picture.

As pragmatists though we need to realise that over zealousness by others can be very beneficial.. I don't care much for gold personally beyond my Omega.. however no man is an island and sometimes one needs to run with the herd.. Just stop before...

I'll look it up though.. since I've learned that I have a lot to learn :O)

Thanks
The Black Swan

EDIT: of course we will also get the usual unintended consequences from Green.. :O)

hello seeker, Vinod Khosla has a point about the need to go after big and huge markets, such as cement and light bulbs.

Vinod Khosla is not quite right about wind and solar and such ancient and true solutions. He forgets that there are advantages in going after niche markets of 20 billion within the confines of 'the energy market' of a few hundred billion.

As to solar requiring government subsidies, solar has reached grid parity with conventional electricity in many places without subsidies, and that reach will be extended month by month, especially as now that fiat money inflation will be in full glory for awhile.

cheers, jay

Seeker I read Snow's link There are not a whole lot of explanations.. More like taking Vinod on faith..

I do see he mentioned Eestor.. (but storage is not feasible he states) I have owned ZNN.V (beef it up and you have a Chindia car) and have it on watch again :O) Check it out.. I see Jay has beaten me to the punch on solar.. As he mentions Solar has reached grid parity.. Think also re: solar of the Betamax VHS battle... but this time due to financial market turmoil Betamax wins :O) Thin film is VHS...

Storage will be overcome.. Here is another one to check out.. ELECTROVAYA.

I agree with Vinod on the Hybrids, and things like the volt or even Tesla are ill conceived for what is important NOW.., partially on ethanol (think sugar cane or SASOL) .. certainly not corn..

At worst case I'm glad to see he mentions eestor in a positive light :O)
