Oops, sorry, I thought I was posting on the "Solar" board.

Still, the questions hold for STP as well as other solar stocks. As someone wrote last week, the solar stocks largely seem to move together. Though that may change in the next couple of years--lower prices for commodities related to energy production and less generous subsidies will undoubtedly shake out some players and other others will merge to economize.

ldk buys the raw material and uses some recycled semi material. they make solar wafers...their major customers includes STP QCell other chinese and euro companies...

They will very shortly be a supplier of polysilicon.

And they will be a large supplier of it on the world stage.

Back in about 2003 polysilicon prices were much lower as demand and supply were in balance. Most of the material went to semiconductor manufacturers such as Intel. That's not true today as we will have a glut of the material shortly if not now. Spot prices have dropped in half since last summer.
