Q8,
try this out

stock100.com

Look what it says for the Dow in Jan 09

Interesting projection. We shall see.

To me, the wild card is the elimination of limits to CBank liquidity injections. This complicates comparisons to other recessions/depressions.

Leverage, perceptions, and institutional pressures make direct correlations to other times rather tenuous. Fundamentally, I fail to understand how a deep recession or depression can be avoided. If 10-20K tax deductions for new cars became a reality, perhaps........but consumers are too levered to debt of all kinds. I fail to see how they can now double-down on debt to buy even more on credit. Further, refi's and Heloc standards require higher credit scores. For the masses, I don't see that possibility. Hence, a rebirth of consumer consumption is frail hope.

More BK's to follow. My perception remains --- Dow and markets are going south, just as Louise Yamada suggested.
