The mainstream media has left the public with the misconception that with all the bailout money, banks are now flush with cash. The truth is that even with trillions of dollars of free taxpayer money in hand, the balance sheets of most banks make Enron look good.

You can't lend money you don't have to people with no means to pay it back. That, my friend, is what got us into this mess in the first place.
