Regarding the better than expected reading on consumer confidence for November:

I don’t read much into it. Elections always bring some hope and optimism. People who voted for the winning candidate will always feel upbeat about the economic prospects, which could last a little longer than the erection for the celebratory sex they will have on the night of election. -g-

The point is, “feeling” confident is a stated-opinion, which may or may not translate into actions, i.e. spending.
