It might actually lead the gains as it usually moves faster, and
fund managers are eager to sweeten up what has been a very ugly
year, although I am more bullish on basic materials and
especially gold equities. Note that tech earnings were not
actually all that ugly; some reported record growth YOY.
Many of these companies don't have
debt, their gadgets are cheap and don't require credit.
I agree, recession should take a toll on demand for technology,
but so far that part has been muted for many, especially the
tech horses. Note that p/e ratios for technology have come
down very significantly from bubble hey days.
