SEC in another country. Unfortunately Canada is worse than the U.S. at pursuing underhanded stock activity. We don't even have a national regulator.

Cheers,

'The stock was sold by the CEO’s broker after a decline in NovaGold’s share price below C$3 triggered the automatic repayment of a loan, Van Nieuwenhuyse said today in a telephone interview from Vancouver. The shares had been used as collateral for the loan, which he had used to increase his holding in the company, he said.

“All of the sale of the stock was out of my control -- it was under the control of the brokerage house,” Van Nieuwenhuyse said. “It was a contractual arrangement. That’s the way margins work, and a lot of people have been caught.”

Sounds plausible eh ... if you look at insiders before that date, VanN and several others are making regular oddlot buys, some kind of plan probably subsidised by the company ... anyway he had good size holdings of common, and still does, obviously believes in his outfit, so we may have unfairly besmirched his name there ... same thing happened with Gusella the CEO of cll.to about a month ago, stock dropped below the cdn3.00 margin level and he got sold up enough to cover, absolutely would not have sold had he had the choice

drys.naz - are you still following Dry Ships, ork? ... saw you mention it on another thread, a new member of an investment club here was considering it, looks interesting, seems to have stopped going down for now, may be good for a bounce once the fear slacks off a bit, however temporarily

In re Metalline - ah feel yoh pain, lol ... management has pissed me off with the lack of promotion too, but you know, this may be the time to have a hardnosed old ultra-conservative in charge ... i've been out for a while, took a major hit, definitely will be back in at some point, no idea when, watching zinc
