That would mean Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Macedonia were all one nation, Yugoslavia. And Czechia and Slovakia s/h remained together.

And had Belarus and the Ukraine ever been independent states before?

Abkhasia and S. Ossetia. An automatic off-the-hip argument would be that the Russians would have done it anyway.
