Actually, I think the most recent month was 6.5%. This is still not high enough to panic about.

For example, unemployment exceeded 7% for the entire year of 1993 and most of '94. And it was above 10% in parts of 82 and 83 .. we still don't know whether it will go that high in the current debacle.

At this point, unemployment is not a major problem. The bigger problem is these overpaid UAW members NOT being fired when they should be.
