John Adams was a scholar of political structure, he studied the history of republics, and wrote a very long summary of his findings and conclusions in regard to the optimum structure for govt. He was the architect of our system of checks and balances, which also reflects the idea that a govt should be a system of laws, and not of men.

Fiat currency by its nature becomes a govt of men, as individual men constantly choose to turn the policy in their favor, eventually to the point of bankruptcy.

Gold as money places the manipulation of currency outside the control of men.
