One of constant themes here (and back in the BBR thread when it was a decent one) is the Nation-state.

The nation-state is an anachronism and this crisis further undermines its standing.

Now we are seeing that the nation-state monopolized the issue of paper money. Dictated interest rates and regulated all economic activities. and most important extract tribute from the real value created by the real economy.

It is now becoming clear that the nation state has real money while the economies lived off credit.

TJ must be noted that nation-states have reserves in Gold. They are not stupid to use other nation-states currencies as reserves.

The real economies are fast running out of credit and once there's not credit real money must be coughed out the same way TJ says that if paper money is worthless real reserve of value must be put in circulation.

This is not only the end of an era. It is more of a sign of the end of the nation-state too.
