Do you consider it a lie that a few years back when Dems proposed Detroit be put under stronger MPG requirements, they faced strong opposition from both Detroit AND the Republicans?

Until the very recent increase it had been many years since CAFE standards increased. Don't have the number in front of me.

Ted, > Do you consider it a lie that a few years back when Dems proposed Detroit be put under stronger MPG requirements, they faced strong opposition from both Detroit AND the Republicans? In fact, that year only a very minor increase was put through, allowing Detroit to continue to produce en masse SUVs and other gas guzzling vehicles. Is that all a lie?

Opposing stronger regulation does not equal encouraging bad behavior, unless you think it's the government's responsibility to regulate people's spending habits.
