"...I think he'll wait for what appears to be a successful retest of the lows before he issues another buy signal..."

Probably true, but if it doesn't work out Brinker can just scratch it and call another one.

Some folks around here call a new bottom almost every Friday and sooner or later they actually get close to one.

You are probably right but remember he was expecting a test of the low in 2003 since he wrote in his April 2003 newsletter to DCA on WEAKNESS in the vicinity of the low after the market rallied a few percent. I forget when he went to regular DCA as opposed to dca on weakness near the low... but if you look at his old newsletters from 2003, anyone who subscribed after March 2003 was DCA'ing all the way up, not lump summing.

We're much higher off the recent low than a few percent in April 2003. Nearly 20% on an intraday basis and if we rally 2% more on a closing basis, we'll be in a new cyclical bull market by his definition. He'd have to change the name of his newsletter if he missed the worst bear since the depression while fully invested, then missed the first rally off the bottom..... after calling for gift horse buy levels in the mid 1400s near the top.
