Sales are up margins are down. Here is what the consumers are thinking: Do all the shopping this weekend at a steep discount. Thus leaving nothing for the rest of the season. What it was believed that the sale of this weekend is usually about 10% of the season's sales this year, however, it is more like 50% to 65%. These number are just from observing the surrounding. We are not out of the woods yet. There are few more shoes to drop.

Yes, sales were up 3%, but due to giveaway prices. Prices were chopped down even more than the usual Black Friday, knowing this will be a weak holday retail wise. You can ramp up sales that way, but it doesnt help your profits. Lots of store closings coming in January. Market will recognize this, go up intially Monday, sell off either later Monday or Tuesday.
