LIG, I do not pretend to understand any of this. I was pretty much just posing a question. In fact I sort of feel like I am just watching this debacle unfold in amazament and noting things.

I also have not read anyone who seems to understand this economic debacle. Even guys like Krugman and Stiglitz seem baffled. If they can't get it, I sure won't get it-lol. Krugman writes haltingly e.g about the bailout: "well, I think it was probably necessary and it wasn't too bad, but---".

I do know the buying of physical gold has been pretty heavy lately. And I cannot remember the last time I saw gold and the dollar rise together.

And it still remans to be seen how big the AIG and bank bailouts will be and what they will do with the auto companies.
And states and cities.

But I am just an observer and do not even know what I am looking at-lol.

"Will U.S. rates eventually rise. Sure, just like they did in the 70's. But that could be upward of 15 years from now and to worry about it at the present moment is like an obese man worrying about whether a healthy diet will cause him to lose too much weight."

I disagree. The beginnings of Mass Inflation will show face within one year. By 2012 we will be in a full blown inflationary spiral.
