Bob, this is what you said: What I have said is that wasting billions on a maybe is ludicrous in the face of clearly defined needs for health care and education etc. And is it a scare tactic to say this is nuts? Yes - this would wreck the economy. Is that a scare tactic? I take you at your word when you say investing in alternative energy is a maybe and "would wreck the economy". I don't agree with that, because that is reminiscent of the same folks who thought the Internet would wreck their businesses, instead of embracing the change and expanding their profits. But I understand your reticence to change. Change is hard, especially on the old industries that are marked for a slow death.
