Thus, the only solution is to call for the certificates. That would be the equivalent of a "run on the bank" and would force the shorts to cover, or leave the brokers with their butts hanging out.

I tried that once... they said OK, but 3 weeks later I chased it up and they said, Sorry that stock has been "oversold" and we can't get certs issued for a while..

I eventually got them over a year later when the stock had dropped from over $20 a share at the top to pennies by the time the certs arrived - and I couldn't trade them the whole time they were in limbo....

They got me good, and my complaint to NASD, SEC and everyone else I complained to was simply ignored! Be careful when you demand your certs...
