It's still a moonscape in Sudbury? I saw that in 1977 and assumed that over 30 years with pollution control things would have returned to a natural state. It was impressive to see train loads of molten slag being tipped over the side of the slag heaps in the night time.

It was amazing to see the barren rocks across the landscape.

Lithium isn't the only storage technology. Right now, some companies like EEStor are developing SuperCapacitors, which may make lithium obsolete for car batteries. Then of course, there are also hydrogen fuel cells, which Honda is betting on. Both of these technologies are in the future, but they are close to viability. Electric cars are undeniably the future. The storage mechanism, however, is the uncertain part at this point.
