Please stop promoting this rumor.

STP has nothing to gain by selling its company when they are well positioned for the economic turnaround.

STP is one of the most diversified solar companies in the world and with recent purchase of EI Solutions and joint partnership with MMA Renewable Ventures STP will now be able to compete for larger utility projects in US of which had been dominated by the likes of Sunpower and First Solar.

The EI Solutions aquisition is huge for STP and the new name of this STP subsidiary is Suntech Energy Solutions. These guys have an impressive resume of projects of which are inclusive of Google, Disney, Sony Pictures, North Face and Puget Sound Energy. In addition to this impressive list of nnoteworthy clients formerly known EI Solutions has strong ties with completing projects for the US govt. Why is this so important? Well if Obama decides that the first step of the stimulus is to kick start the alternative energy initiatives he may well start with the US govt which by the way is the biggest user of electricity in the US. This will of course allow STP to capitalize on strong ties with established Govt contacts and being the low cost supplier of panels STP could see a huge amount of business much greater than anyone could of anticipated. The other major benefit of the new company is that its located in California which has the greatest solar initiatives of any state and their location makes them ideal to handle much bigger utility projects with the aid of their newly formed venture of MMA Renewable Ventures of which will orchestrate and coordinate larger utility solar projets of 10 MW's or more.

Why in the world would Dr. Shi sell his company when he can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This is only wishful thinking on your part simply because you would like to see a quick return of your investment.

This isn't going to happen so please stop spreading false rumors.

STP's growth had been out of this world and will have to take a step back in 2009.

The additional benefits and key drivers to grid parity are becoming a reality and within 2 years STP may no longer need subsidies to survive however with major stimulus packages being introduced shortly in China and US STP could be a major beneficiery of US plans to create job growth in alternative energy sector and US market could grow much bigger than what had been anticipated.

STP would be foolish to sell now for they are on the cusp of achieving greatness and why would you give away your business at a time when their are more subsidies now for solar than ever before. Its the financing that is hurting the solar sector however I do believe that we will see some major improvements as banks begin to recover which IMHO should be late in the 1st Q.
