That is not how NEBR works Kenneth. They normally make their announcement 12-18 months later when using their definition of activity diminishing. They will not make an announcement if there is any doubt that we are in a recession. They were not sleeping, this is their SOP. They use a different approach to looking at what qualifies a recession. They look for activity to be diminishing. GDP can still be positive, but it is lessening from where it was. The traditional method is diminished activity for 2 quarters, or negative... Both are very useful in monitoring the past and to declare that we are in a recession...and it gets down to semantics. Either way, everyone agrees that we are in a recession today.
