CISCO SYSTEMS INC unveiled computer networking gear that can
send computer data, video-conferencing and telephone calls through
the same network infrastructure. Until now, companies have had to
set up a separate telecommunication network to send e-mail,
telephone calls and video conferences. Cisco said an integrated
voice and data network will mean equipment savings for its

From this week's Barrons:

"Chartist extraodinaire" Justin Mamis cites Ascend as prime example of a stock with an "awful chart".

"Its only things like Ascend Communications which have looked awfully toppy for a while."

After naming two others, he goes on to state that the rest of the market really doesn't look that bad.

Huh, I don't get it...You just made Cisco's point,, Ascend
doesn't have an end to end solution. End-to-end means
exactly what it implies. There are many gaps in Ascend's
product line that Cisco has covered. I could start a
list in this message but this would span many pages and
I'm not up to it. I think it's funny that Cisco invented
the end-to-end story and all the competition can do is
try to spin their version of it.
