I see your point. Two notes, however -

one - getting Lithium prices up higher may result in more sources. Only energy, the precious metals and high volume industrial metals like copper, nickel, tungsten, etc. have had extension exploration over time.

At a high enough prices, there are many brine sources associated with oil wells which can be examined.

two - I don't think Chile will care about the "environment damage" to a salt flat if the money is good enough.

This moves us towards T. Boone's CNG car option.
