But I can't hold with your uber-pessimistic view that things will "ALWAYS" be that way.

Things will most certainly not always be that one. Of this one can be certain.

Because the CLEAR EVIDENCE from history is that things always change... without exception. Hell, the two largest pogroms of Jews throughout history have been at the hands of Christians and Christian governments. While there have been (however brief) significant episodes of Muslim-enforced religious tolerance... as, say, Toledo, Seville represented once.

Although I suppose it's only fair to remember to point-out that the two LARGEST 'Desert Religions' on the world stage --- Christianity and Islam, also represent (down through the long annals of history) two of the most expressionistic and intolerant major religions to come along in a long while....

Hell, even some of the most *notorious* conquerors in history (for example: Chingis Khan) promulgated far more enlightened policies of religious tolerance in their day than Christianity and Islam have mostly been noted for....
