You can get it from a variety of publications: Wall Street Journal, Investors Bussinesws Daily and Barrons to name a few. The information is reported once per month, the NYSE and AMEX just reported on 10/21. I get my information online from the WSJ Interactive Edition (you must be a subscriber).

Here's a great site to get historical number on short interest for NASDAQ only (unfortunately) I'm hoping they'll add NYSE I've even set up a database in MS-Access to import the html data to excel, I use to enter the data manually.
Otherwise it's WSJ or Barron's at weekend. LOL
