Al, > The same company...same workers, etc...it can be done, but it takes the right leadership and the right business plan, the right relationship with workers, suppliers, yada yada yada.

And nowhere in your story of Nissan's turnaround did you mention "bailout."

By the way, I have some hope that Ford's new CEO can turn that company around, bailout or not.

Maybe he can accomplish for Ford what Ghosn did for Nissan.

I love my Infiniti EX and the FX I had before that. And in fact, have pretty much driven Nissans and Infinitis since my first Pathfinder in '88. All of that is true; great vehicles.

But it was also Ghosn who, last week, said, "Hey, auto sales are off everywhere. We'll be lucky (the industry) to sell 11M vehicles in the USA in '09".

It isn't just GM, F, and DCX. They're ALL getting killed. While GM may need to improve its marketing and product line, that is NOT the basic problem.

I refer you to the article I posted earlier. It says it all better than I could, and there was one point made that I disagree with or that was inaccurate in any way.

I don't care if GM doubles its sales tomorrow, if they continue losing money on every car sold, they're still going to lose money. Their losses are a result untenable union contracts. It seems everyone but liberal extremists can see this.
