It does appear as if an ASND/NT twining would be good but I cannot say when/if this will happen.
I am reasonably confident that earnings will continue to grow at a good clip regardless of the analysts crystal ball. NT's OC-192 systems are selling like hot cakes as NT booked over $520M worth of orders this year already. Production constraints are being addressed by building new production facilities in Montreal. NT is the only company shipping OC-192 SONET sytems at the moment and I hear that the 16 lambda DWDM is ready if not shipping already.
The recent dip in the stock price just means that I will be adding even more shares to my 401K ( I started to buy at $19-16 )

Gary,

in light of what myself, Glenn and Sector Investor were talking about, could you outline for me what products ASND has that Nortel doesn't (and needs)? Just
because ASND is talked about more on Wall Street doesn't mean it's more at the "forefront in this industry". I think it would be a waste of money, but I'd like to hear your reasoning...

thanks,

Andrew
