Far more important is the quality of leadership, its decisions, compensation and perks. In the auto sector, certainly - but let's not confine ourselves to one sector.

Toyota seems to do quite well, thank you - putting out high-quality product at a profit using the same workers that everyone loves to blame for their failures.

From the auto industry to Wall Street, we're being hoodwinked by outrageous incompetence and rock-star status of people who don't know WTF they're doing.

Speaking of perks, the difference between jets used by automakers and those used for lawmakers jaunts is that the former are funded by companies, the latter by taxpayers.

If you want evidence of pervasive underperformance and overcompensation, look at the present crisis, right across the spectrum of industry and government. Look at who got you here: it wasn't someone on an assembly line.
