"How come that our airlines can move in and out of Chapter XI without too much trouble caused anywhere, while you guys all predict that having the 3 big car guys doing the same would be equal to or even worse than doomsday?"

Because, when you book a flight, you don't have to live with it for years? Because it isn't the second largest purchase you make in your life? If the BK causes the airline service to get shitty or potentially unsafe, you book another airline.

The concept that 3 million people go on soup lines if the automakers go into bankruptcy is nothing more than a false statement to promote fear and present a sense of urgency.

The automakers need to go to bankruptcy to allow a solution to be implemented.

The Internet and telephone service didn't shut down when Worldcom disappeared, and the world didn't come to an end when almost all US TV makers ceased to exist.

The world will not end for 3 million people if the US automakers change their failing ways.
