Reflation Update: So now Treasury is going to force mortgage rates lower, I assume using the lever of Fannie and Freddie. Well, I think it was fated/inevitable that once these two agencies were brought on to the government balance sheet/under the govt umbrella, that they would be used as transmission mechanisms for reflationary policy.

Let's recall that Ben's academic work has concentrated on the Credit Transmission System. What's clear now is that he has moved to al a carte printing. I suspect that he thinks he can do targeted monetizations, like an archer shooting just enough arrows from the quiver to reflate--without getting into hyperinflationary hot water.

Maybe he's right. I don't know. I only know what they are doing, and it's pretty clear now.
