When I asked 'WHICH definition' (for there are *many*)

In the context of the statement you replied to there is and was only one.

Figuring you might have missed the context I quoted it in my last reply, and you still missed it.

Lets try again.

I said - "The media has always reported when a recession is officially recognized according to the government definition."

to which you replied - "Which 'definition'?"

Which only makes sense if there is more than one official US government definition, and there isn't.

I suppose you could quibble about the fact that I said "the government" rather than "the US government", but that should be reasonably understood in the context of our conversation.
