Lets assume for the sake of argument your correct. That doesn't make the capital destruction by GM any less, it only makes us less able to afford to subsidize continued capital destruction by GM.

Most of them would have made a living in other ways. And the freed up capital would have allowed other people who are unemployed, under-employed (part time when they want full time), or very poorly paid, to make money.

Net employment and net compensation for employees would probably have been higher without the capital destruction. So counting the effects on workers, just strengthens the case against subsidizing such destruction.
