In order to be a Christian, you have to confess that you're a sinner and in need of divine forgiveness and grace. So saying 'you people aren't Christians, you're major sinners' doesn't make any sense. Christians know they're sinners. That's why they're Christians. This is a barrier to many. A proud person with a swollen self-image, can't humble himself to admit that about himself. No, Jesus doesn't like hatred. Its impossible to imagine him screaming obscene rants at people over political disagreements, voicing fantasies of beheading and torture and death to people he hates.
