6:15AM Nokia cuts fourth-quarter mobile industry outlook (NOK) by Aude Lagorce
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Nokia Corp. (NOK), the world's largest maker of mobile phones, on Thursday issued its second warning in two months. At its capital markets event, the company said it now expects industry mobile device volume in the fourth quarter to fall below it previous estimate of 330 million units. As a result of lower demand and decreasing visibility, Nokia said it can no longer vouch that its market share will remain stable at 38% in the quarter. Nokia added that lower demand from consumers would lead operators and retail distribution channels to go through a period of destocking. It expects 2009 industry mobile device volumes to fall 5% or more from 2008 levels.
