The city of Mumbai was flooded for two days a couple of years ago. The call centers were down for probably one day, some not even that.

Also, there is a peculiar phenomenon in India called the Bandh. Political parties shut down the whole city to protest something or other. Every city has one or two such days a year. Indians just take that in their stride. Cricket matches are held on empty streets.
