Meaning "TD-SCDMA is and will be a complete flop, so we're banking on some smokeware that we call TD-LTE".

Re : "chances of China's own 3G standard taking off appear remote as the carrier developing it is already pinning its hopes on future "4G" technology" ................

Anyone familiar with Chinese perceptions of "lucky numbers" and "unlucky numbers" might wonder how a Chinese telecommunications company could POSSIBLY announce : "4G coming soon !!!"

Maybe they will call it 8G ...

From :

Chinese believe that 8 is a lucky number and 4 is an unlucky number. This is because the pronunciation for the number 8 is "ba", which sounds like "fa", which means to make a fortune, to acquire wealth, or to become rich. On the other hand, the pronunciation for the number 4 is "si", which could accidentally sound like "si" in a different tone, which means death. Many Chinese avoid the digit 4 in their phone number and home address. They often choose the digit 8 if at all possible.
