Assuming my homeowners association would let me dig install such coils, how much do you figure they (and adding the coil charging mechanism to my new electric car) would cost me?

I think it will be quite some time before we even see new developments being built with such things, let alone before most condos/townhouse/apartment developments have them.

There are all sorts of solutions that can technically work. But cost effectiveness, and time to replace or add to infrastructure are the big barriers. They won't be barriers for ever IMO, (eventually oil probably will get much more expensive, electric car technologies will improve, and infrastructure will be added to and replaced over long cost effective time periods), its just that this stuff isn't going to happen very quickly. I may live to see it, but it isn't just over the horizon.
