Actually it could supply virtually all of the cars if we recharge them at the best time... after about 10 pm at night till about 5 AM. If you look at the load profile there is a lot of capacity available.

Summertime loads in the afternoon down there are the problems for keeping up with electricity production. Not late at night fortunately.

I think there are lots of ways we can produce more Eletricity.
1 Use the fuel cell tech by placing fuel cell systems near the hydro plants where they have access to lots hydrogen for fuel.
2 solar thermal in the dry states.
3 nuclear, yuck
4 coal, yuck
5 wind $$
