Rome had the same problem, since the grunt work was done by legions of slaves captured by the legions. Their answer - free bread, circuses and gladiator shows!

I think OUR answer might be welfare, free recreational drugs and cage fighting, even though most (R)'s seem to prefer crime and sporting the largest per capita prison population among developed countries.

The ultimate, evolved, answer is human population control. It's a simple choice - too many of us competing for too few resources, or just enough of us living like demigods.

I wonder if those students and professors can answer your questions. I mean, it's a basic problem, no? If technology reduces the need for low-skill labor, what do you do with the resulting rise in unemployment?

Produce less unskilled labor and more skilled labor.

It's too that misplaced self esteem is not a marketable skill...
