More than half the world's population lives within 60 km of the shoreline

I understand the pull. I live one block from one of the most famous beaches in the world.

The number of people living within 60 miles of coastlines will increase by about 35 percent (by 2025) compared to 1995, the mapmakers say.

I went from living 17 miles from a major seaport to 275 miles away.

Suits me just fine.
