:o) As I said before they're all clowns... They are all playing politics..

The winner will be Duceppe, the separatist Bloc leader... All this Harper talk about the deal including the evil separatists means simply that Duceppe (by far the smartest of the bunch IMHO) go back home and spout Ils nous haient encore...

The Black Swan

Gartman on BNN ... short gold..

The more I hear the provincial Liberals from Ontario... the more I wish they were the federal leaders :O)

OT re: "All Harper needs to do now is to arrange for the Canadian Parliament building to burn down, blame it on the Green Party, and assume dictatorial powers."

---

In her book "On The Take" amazon.ca Stevie Cameron details one of Mulroney's successes (from the standpoint of the Conservatives): a complete overhaul of the political contribution system. For input, the Conservatives relied almost completely on the model developed by US Republicans; I can't recall who went to the 'States to study the system, but the Conservatives "imported" it.

The system was unequalled; no other Canadian political party could match it. It was rapacious, and enormously successful.

By attempting to legislate elimination of public funding for other parties - in the guise of "responsible" spending - Harper obviously sought to capitalize on this legacy advantage, a present from Lyin' Brian Mulroney. It would have crippled other parties, and greatly increased the probability of a Conservative majority in the next election.

---

The attempted fast move by Harper was prevented, and he stepped back. There's now no excuse for continued excursion into partisan politics at the expense of government.

Buncha maroons. They all look like posturing, inept fools.

Your comment "dictatorial powers" is spot on.
