If you put a gun to my head I would choose the first outcome because my view is that humans historically have a slight edge when they try to repair broken systems that they themselves created. So, the emotion of fear makes us believe that the global financial crisis is like an Act of God, a death by volcanic ash. But, it's not of course, it's man made and I don't think it's a nuclear warhead though, again, that is emotionally how everyone is feeling about it.

So I choose the first outcome based on probability. It's the better bet.

Now, I am aware that we created the mess, and that our attempts to handle the mess will also create more problems. However, again, this is not war. Nor is it a meteor.

It's a very, very serious situation however. Still, I choose outcome number 1.

But only cuz you made me choose. :-)
