>>" My last visit to Detroit proves otherwise. It looks like pre-surge Iraq. "<<

Very silly statement...and re post-surge Iraq: today Richard Engel, quite good, a very knowledgeable war correspondent said that now post-surge Iraq has the third most corrupt government in the world after Myanmar and Somalia and is on the verge of civil war...gave a very interesting and revealing example of what happened between the Kurds and Maliki's government after the recent Basra fighting ended.

>>" And that is before the full impact of union hits, and 10s of thousands of jobs are destroyed by the unions. "<<

Nonsense...

I guess you are unaware of Detroit's Katrina...the 68 riots...not a UAW issue and the city has never recovered although efforts continue to be made. The wealth destruction (it fled) and decline of the American Auto Industry doesn't help what is essentially a one company town with lousy winters, but surrounded by lakes with a most beautiful river (partially cluttered shoreline) overlooking another country.

Make Detroit the center of a metro government and give it $12 Bn a month and let's see what happens after 5 years. OK...just give it $2 Bn a month...

You know, joe, you didn't grow up here......but unions have a history in this country and played an important role in making this country a better place to live.

My last visit to Detroit proves otherwise. It looks like pre-surge Iraq. And that is before the full impact of union hits, and 10s of thousands of jobs are destroyed by the unions.

Unions caused the problems in Detroit??? Next you will be claiming they are causing global warming. Oh wait......you don't believe in GW. Next you will blaming them for McCain's defeat and Sarah Palin's speech impediment.
