The auto industry isn't about to close down. Most of the workers still have their jobs.

You are gambling your future, and the future of everyone in this country, on that supposition. And most disagree with you.

After today's job report, people like inode and Shelby will be told to STFU. The stocks of F and GM are refusing to go down very much under the onslaught......in fact, F is green. That speaks volumes as to how quickly they will be getting their loans.

Churchill once said, "... for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle."

Having the government bail the unions out of this mess they've created is a bit like trying to tax oneself into prosperity. You can't do it.

If the UAW were to disband altogether and unions could be banned for the auto industry, then I think funding the bailout is fine, as that gives the companies something to build on and to allow them an opportunity to come back strong and competitive. If the UAW concessions aren't deep cuts, then they just need to proceed to Chapter 11.

Apparently, Chapter 11 is where they're headed.

The gamble of leaving the UAW contract is far greater. It leads to certain demise.
