I think the nation is raising a generation of psychopaths. My daughter gets all defensive about using a sheet of paper I hand to her to work out her math problems. She thinks she is harming the environment. So what she does is scrible tiny numbers one on top of another, to save space on paper, and then she can't read the numbers clearly and makes mistakes... If it makes you feel better, I had the same discussion with my father in the '60s before ever hearing of ecology or the environment. I must've been trying to get long division problems to fit on one page. You only give her paper that's already been printed on one side, though, right?
