On the other end of this big Bear market I think one of the two things will happen - either we'll have socialism, or the public will learn that the government cannot be allowed to mess with the economy. Who decided that a bunch of politicians up in Washington can continue to encourage every boom - and abort every bust? Ultimately, the government - by inserting itself into the markets - merely introduces one more (huge and unpredictable) variable into the process. They make it not easier - they make it harder - for the markets and for the economy to find natural bottoms.
