Fishfinder,
A forklift is only using that power when it is lifting at it's maximum rating, something it does rarely, most of the time its running less than 20%, probably less than 10%. Nobody will use a smart car, it does not carry enough and is too slow. Even when I was in England the Smart Car was not that popular, Mini Coopers are much more popular. The 117 HP S10 EV would be a better comparison. That is using about 30 to 35% capacity on the highway. Used Nickle Hydride batteries and was supposed to get 80 Miles range, but you had to drive like grandma. Range dropped to 50 miles in a couple of years. Employees hated to drive it because the air conditioner cooled the batteries and had little reserve to cool the cabin, operated as a heat pump in the winter, not enough capacity for the coldest days and the diesel powered backup heater didn't usually work.
